Etteplan press release November 16, 2021 at 8.30 a.m. EET

Etteplan has won the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s (FTIA) competitive tender for structural content production and expert technical communication services. The duration of the agreement is 3+2 years. The expert work to be procured includes information planning, technical writing and illustration, as well as content publication. Etteplan will also oversee the related tools and processes.

A new way to produce, re-use and publish content

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency produces many documents that are used to guide and support its cooperation partners and expert consultants. The joint project between Etteplan and the FTIA will help develop a content-production process that meets future requirements and a development program that will serve as a roadmap for future digital content production.

At the same time it will be possible to create new ways to publish the Agency’s guidelines and other content on the web pages and mobile applications in a way that the same content can be published in many communications channels.

“Our objective is to harmonize and eliminate redundancies, as well as to produce content that reflects the look and style of the FTIA. As the final outcome, we will standardize ways of producing, re-using and publishing content. This is a very interesting project to be part of and in which we can make our own contribution to FTIA’s content production,” says Kimmo Kallio, Etteplan’s Business Unit Director, Finland, Technical Documentation Solutions.

The field of technical documentation has evolved in leaps and bounds along with digitalization. Etteplan is a technical documentation professional that develops service solutions for organizations’ technical documentation, from products to machinery and plants to processes.

More time for the specialist

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency is an expert agency of approximately 430 people that is responsible for developing and maintaining the state-owned road network, railways and waterways, as well as for coordinating transport and land use. In addition to its own personnel, the Agency indirectly employs over 14,000 people. Together with them, the Agency maintains the level of service of transport and thus promotes well-being in Finnish society and the competitiveness of Finnish industry and trade.

This cooperation project with Etteplan promotes the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s ongoing initiative of more efficient production to guidelines and other content. More efficient processes make it easier to find the necessary information and ensure that the information is up to date. The goal is to free up the Agency’s expert consultants’ time to production of expert content.
