ETTEPLAN, Press release, December 3, 2020 at 9.00 a.m. EET

The cooperation between Posti and Etteplan continues with new self-service terminals for OmaPosti kiosks in Finland. As part of the pilot project, 20 next-generation OmaPosti kiosk self-service terminals will be delivered. Etteplan will produce important software components for the OmaPosti kiosks and oversee the full delivery of the project. This includes putting the kiosks into use and continuously maintaining the software and devices. The first OmaPosti kiosk self-service terminal delivered by Etteplan was taken into use in Askola in summer 2019. The self-service terminals have previously been delivered to, for example, Box by Posti on Helsinki’s Keskuskatu street and the 2020 Housing Fair held in Tuusula in the summer. The network is now expanding with new self-service terminals, the design and implementation of which will draw on the experiences gained from the first kiosks.

OmaPosti kiosks can be used to pick up, return and send packages and registered letters within Finland and abroad every day of the week. The OmaPosti kiosk self-service terminals supplied by Etteplan feature a video link to Posti’s customer service advisor, who provides assistance and guidance in any post-related matter. Using the service will be made as simple as possible, and a customer advisor will always be on hand to provide support – in any region of the country and at any time.

“Posti is seeking significant growth in parcels, online shopping and logistics services. Etteplan is an important partner in helping to enable this growth,” says Heiko Laubach from Retail Network, Posti.

“The next generation OmaPosti kiosk self-service terminals are a natural continuation of our earlier collaboration with Posti and a good example of our expertise and how we can support companies in digitalizing their operations and services,” says Tom Leskinen, Etteplan’s Senior Vice President, Software and Embedded Solutions.

“Etteplan has extensive expertise in self-service concepts, as well as in implementing the related software solutions. We can deliver various complete systems, from software design all the way to a finely tuned user experience. This guarantees that Posti easily gains a well-functioning solution to support its self-service business from a single point of contact,” stresses Esa Mäkelä, Head of Etteplan’s Software unit.

Etteplan also maintains the software for the rapidly increasing parcel lockers

The number of parcels Posti delivers is growing, and parcels and logistics already account for more than half of Posti’s net sales. For more and more Posti customers, their service needs involve sending or receiving packages. Along with the increase in online shopping, Posti has rapidly expanded its network of parcel lockers: in 2022, Posti will have 4,000 parcel lockers throughout Finland. Etteplan has for some time now been responsible for maintaining the software for Posti’s parcel lockers. Etteplan is in charge of the technical support and maintenance of the parcel locker software. In 2019, the maintenance cooperation expanded to also include SmartPost parcel lockers located in residential buildings and at workplaces, as well as OmaPosti kiosk self-service terminals. Every OmaPosti kiosk will also be connected to a parcel point.
