Junttan Oy has outsourced its technical documentation to Etteplan, aiming at more efficient use of resources and streamlined processes

Junttan Oy, a member of the Finnish Sinituote Group, has outsourced its technical documentation to Etteplan, aiming at higher quality and cost-effectiveness in documentation.
Junttan Oy specializes in the manufacture of hydraulic piling equipment, including pile driving rigs and excavator-mounted ExcaDrill drilling attachments. The sales, operation and maintenance of these products demand precise technical documentation throughout the units’ life cycles. The practical applications of such product information include operation and installation manuals as well as training materials.
Creating and managing product documentation is an important task, but it is not usually part of companies’ core expertise. Because of this, monitoring the actual costs of documentation can be difficult and may take time away from focusing on the company’s core operations.
“Our service product Etteplan INFO is a good example of outsourcing processes that are becoming increasingly common. These processes usually start from a specific area, such as technical documentation, which is outside the customer’s core competence. Outsourcing allows the company to focus on its core business,” says Kimmo Kallio, Etteplan’s Business Unit Director for Technical Documentation Solutions in Finland.

Junttan originally outsourced a single person to Etteplan, but due to growing demand, the team already includes another person. Flexibility is one of the key benefits of this cooperation, because the team’s personnel can be increased or decreased as the demand for documentation work varies. These were precisely the reasons behind Junttan’s interest in the outsourcing option.
“The outsourcing process has proceeded very well ever since the initial negotiations. One of the best aspects of it is that Etteplan can, with its own expertise, take our technical documentation to the next level without us having to develop these functions ourselves. Outsourcing will help us both secure the necessary resources and respond to peaks in demand,” says Timo Lipponen, Director of NPD & Mechanical Design, from Junttan Oy.
