Alfa Laval Thermal replaces fixed telephones with mobile telephones Many of Alfa Laval Thermal's employees in Lund can now be reached everywhere, even when they are not at their workstations. Thanks to a Wireless Office agreement with Europolitan, around 300 of the company's staff are now being provided with mobile phones instead of fixed ones. Alfa Laval Thermal AB produces heat exchangers, and is part of the Alfa Laval group. The agreement with Europolitan means that many of the company's employees in the four different Lund offices are being equipped with mobile phones instead of fixed ones. Initially, the agreement covers 300 users, and also applies to Alfa Laval's group headquarters in Lund. "We have been testing The Wireless Office in a pilot group for a number of months, and we are very satisfied. We always endeavour to provide customers with the service they want, when they want it, and now we can. Our staff are available in a completely different way than they were before, even when they are not at their offices. And, our customers no longer have to keep long lists of different telephone numbers," says Mia Håkansson, in charge of telecoms procurement at Alfa Laval Thermal. The agreement with Europolitan is a so-called zone solution based on different charging systems depending on where the employee is calling from. Rates vary depending on whether the call is internal at Alfa Laval Thermal, or if the caller is outside of the zone. Alfa Laval Thermal employees can access the same type of switch functions as the fixed network, for example short numbers, transfer, voice mail and conference calls. Users can also access a number of mobile services, for example sending and receiving text messages, mobile fax and mobile data. "There has been a growing interest in The Wireless Office, and an increasing number of companies are seeing the benefits of providing their staff with mobile phones. This makes the company more efficient and improves staff availability," says Robert Nilsson, sales manager at Europolitan.
