Karlskrona 5 April 2000 Aspiro first with Europolitan's new Wireless Office Aspiro, a mobile Internet services and applications developer, is the first company to use Europolitan's new service within the Wireless Office concept. Europolitan will be taking over the company's switch functionality, which means that Aspiro will no longer have to invest in and operate its own company switch. Aspiro's employees in Sweden will be made mobile. "As well as becoming fully mobile, we will also save money on both investments and maintenance," says Greger Rosenberg, Aspiro's telephony manager. ASP is a development of the Wireless Office concept. The main difference is that in the traditional Wireless Office system solution, the customers keep their company switches. With the Wireless Office ASP Europolitan takes over all switch functions, which means that customers avoid investments in and maintenance of their company switches. Costly company switch maintenance and overheads, e.g. for extension transfer, disappear. And as it is mobile telephony-based, the ASP Wireless Office is also future-proof. "We no longer have to spend time and money on running and maintaining our own company switch, which means we can concentrate on what we do best - developing mobile Internet services," says Greger Rosenberg at Aspiro. Callers to the Wireless Office ASP will not notice any difference compared with a regular telephony system. Customers get access to a fixed number series, for example, which for Aspiro means that its Stockholm, Malmö and Karlskrona offices keep their area codes of 08, 040 and 0455 respectively. Callers to any of Aspiro's 125 employees will pay regular rates despite the calls going to a mobile phone. The major difference for Aspiro staff is that they are now always mobile which increases their availability, accessibility and efficiency. Aspiro staff can call each other using speed dial numbers (short numbers), regardless of their whereabouts in Sweden. Aspiro's telephonist uses a PC-based workstation directly connected to Europolitan's mobile network. The telephonist can, for example, answer and transfer incoming calls, manage telephone queues and resume unanswered calls. "Aspiro's staff work in a flexible and mobile environment. We must be reached wherever we are and we also need operational telephone switches for our new offices fast. I think most companies could benefit from this type of solution," says Greger Rosenberg. Aspiro chose Europolitan from several mobile systems alternatives - including DECT. But the company decided that Europolitan's solution was the best. Had Aspiro chosen DECT, it would still have needed a switch, a cordless phone and a mobile phone. "Interest in the Wireless Office is spreading and more companies are realising the benefits of equipping their staff with mobile phones. This increases efficiency and enhances staff accessibility," says Robert Nilsson, sales manager at Europolitan. The ASP Wireless Office is developed by Europolitan in association with Nokia. The service is suitable for companies with 75 or more users. Sales of the Wireless Office will start 14 April 2000. Europolitan AB is a Swedish GSM operator that prioritises service and quality.
