Europolitan expands europolitan@internet Check your e-mail, anywhere in the world, from any computer In May, Europolitan is introducing a new feature for the e-mail management system included in its Internet service europolitan@internet. It will allow customers to check their e-mail messages on any computer with an Internet connection. The e-mail service includes a notification function whereby customers receive a text message on their mobile telephones whenever a new e- mail message arrives in their mailbox. A filtering function also allows them to choose which messages they want to be notified of. Europolitan@internet was the world's first mobile Internet service when the service was launched in 1996. It contains both a fixed and a mobile Internet connection where the customer is advised via an SMS when an e-mail message has arrived in the mail box. The customer used to need a regular e-mail program to receive e-mail. But the improved version now contains a so-called webmail function, which gives customers access to their e-mail accounts through a regular web-reader. This means that they no longer need to take their own computer with them on their trips. They can read their e-mails on any computer with an Internet connection anywhere in the world, e.g. at an IT café or library. The webmail function for europolitan@internet can be reached via Europolitan's web site on the Internet. On the webmail page, there is a filtering function where customers can choose whether and when they want to be notified that an e-mail has arrived in the mailbox, depending on, for example; sender, file size and subject matter. Customers can also choose at what time of day or on which days they wish to be notified. "This development of our e-mail function gives our customers easier access to their e-mails anywhere in the world," says Magnus Hoffner at Europolitan. "The filtering function is an extra refinement, which allows the customers to decide when they want information and which messages they want to be informed about."
