Europolitan offers international mobile service using short numbers This unique international convergence service facilitates communication for companies operating in different countries and is being developed and offered by Sonera Ltd, Telenor Mobil A/S, Europolitan AB and Tele Danmark A/S (for mobile). The new service makes it possible to make a call from a cellular telephone by dialling an internal local number, regardless of where you are in a company service network. Country codes and long telephone numbers no longer have to be memorised. A connection between your fixed and cellular phone and the local numbering plan in the switchboard makes it all happen. Europolitan is calling the new service Nordisk Centrex. The service means that corporate customers can use Europolitan's other short numbers abroad, for example when they collect messages from the EuroVoice answering service. The only difference from making domestic calls is that you enter * before you enter the short number. Customers of Sonera, TelenorMobil and TeleDanmark can use their own short numbers when they are in Sweden. This service is a complement to Europolitan's product portfolio of services for the corporate market. "The service is important to us. Many of our corporate customers have international operations and it is important that we are able to offer them as user-friendly internal communication abroad as we do in Sweden," says Tomas Isaksson, the President of Europolitan. The service will be tested during the spring by a number of selected companies with operations in the Nordic region. This service, with international mobile short numbering plans, is the first of its type in the world. Europolitan is a Swedish GSM operator which prioritises service and quality.
