Mobile telephony helps Frontec's expansion Doing away with fixed workplaces with the help of "The Wireless Office" Using GSM telephony and the Europolitan service "The Wireless Office", IT consultants Frontec is doing away with it fixed workplaces at its Gothenburg offices. All the consultants can be reached on one extension at their office and out at their customers. Today, Frontec has no fixed telephones. Frontec is a consultancy company. Its broad range of services stretches from business-, system- and product development to the integration and maintenance of networks. The company, which is growing fast, has some 1000 employees of which 900 work in Sweden. Its Gothenburg offices has 350 staff and because its consultants are often out at customers, they don't need to be at their offices every day. Europolitan's service "The Wireless Office" has made it possible for the growing company to cut office space. By using a system of cabinets on wheels and mobile telephones, the office can be used more effectively. Now there are three staff sharing every two workplaces and, because they have mobile telephones, Frontec's consultants are more accessible to their customers. The mobile telephony network at Frontec's office is built around GSM 1800 equipment. The staff use dual band telephones which automatically select the available frequency band to communicate on. The network includes a zone solution which is based on different call charges depending on where a user calls from. Frontec's office is the home zone. If calls are made outside this zone a different call charge is applied. Europolitan is a Swedish GSM operator which prioritises service and quality. The company's head office is in Karlskrona and it leads development in technologically advanced services for GSM 900/1800.
