Europolitan's Wireless Office makes PostNet more mobile A growing number of companies are showing an interest in Europolitan's Wireless Office service. PostNet, a company owned by Sweden Post, is now replacing its fixed telephony with cellular telephones. As of Monday, its new office in Sundbyberg, just outside Stockholm, has no fixed workplaces. PostNet is the part of Sweden Post which runs the Torget web site. The 200 creative staff are involved in electronic commerce and already live in a "mobile" world. On 28 September, PostNet moved to a new office in Sundbyberg and its staff will work exclusively with cellular telephones. In conjunction with this, PostNet is also switching to a new type of office with no fixed workplaces. At stage 1, 100 staff will have access to the Wireless Office, but the intention is for all the staff to use the service. "The Wireless Office is a modern technology which can be developed, and it suits us. PostNet's staff is already fairly mobile in its work. Mobile telephony and GSM technology are natural components in our work," says Lisbeth Gustafsson, the Managing Director." The mobile network at PostNet's office is built around GSM 1800 equipment. The staff will be using dualband telephones which automatically choose to communicate on the frequency band which is available. The network includes a zone solution based on different call charges depending on where the call is made from. PostNet's office is counted as a home zone. If staff make calls outside the home zone, another charge is made for the call. The telephones which will be used are the Nokia 6150 and the Ericsson SH888. "For companies which want to be more effective and service-minded, the wirelsess office is an excellent solution which increases accessibility, because someone always answers the telephone and this makes telephony more personal," says Tomas Isaksson, Managing Director of Europolitan. Europolitan is a Swedish GSM operator which prioritises service and quality. The company's head office is in Karlskrona and it leads development in technologically advanced services for GSM900/1800. The Europolitan Group, which includes the sister company Europolitan Stores AB and the stock market- listed Europolitan Holdings AB, employs around 750 people.
