Europolitan, Postgirot and G&D to collaborate Have your bills sent directly to your mobile phone During the spring, Europolitan, Postgirot and the German company G&D will be launching a system for mobile bank services. The service is known as "Mobilt ePostgiro" and enables you to do your banking transaction via your mobile phone. A new version of the service will be out in the autumn, and will allow customers to have bills sent electronically directly to their mobile phones. Europolitan, Postgirot and the German company Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), one of the world's largest manufacturers of GSM cards, have together developed this standardized mobile bank solution. The service will be offered by Postgirot and is due to be launched in the market during the second quarter of 1999. In the autumn, the service will be developed to include "eFaktura", which will enable the customer to receive electronic bills directly on their mobile phones. By simply pushing a few buttons, customers will be able to check the balance in their account, see who a bill is from and how much it is for, and then decide whether they want to pay it now or wait till later. "Mobilt ePostgiro proves that mobile phones are becoming increasingly important in everyday life," says Mikael Kluge, Marketing Director at Europolitan. "The mobile phone is not just a telephone, it is also a sort of remote control for various services that can simplify daily routines." "Mobilt ePostgiro": a pocket bank "Mobilt ePostgiro" is one of the first commercial mobile banking services to make it possible to transfer funds between postal giro accounts without having to make a regular phone call. The customer simply uses the phone to enter the relevant amount and the recipient's account, and the transaction is then sent directly to Postgirot. Other additional services include transferring between accounts, checking the balance in the account and listing the latest transactions. "Mobilt ePostgiro" is entirely based on the SIM Application Toolkit standard (STK), which makes it possible to develop user-friendly services that the customer can handle directly via their mobile phone.
