Seventeen municipalities in Skåne, Sweden, switching to Europolitan Seventeen municipalities in Skåne, Sweden, have signed mobile telephony agreements with Europolitan. Europolitan will now expand it's coverage in around 10 districts of the county. It also offers the municipalities' workers the unique possibility of making internal calls using the short numbers on their mobile telephones. Together with Telenordia, Europolitan has signed agreements with the seventeen municipalities in Skåne. Telenordia will supply the fixed telephony and Europolitan will supply the mobile telephony. Europolitan will now expand it's coverage in the county of Skåne. Twelve new base stations will be built to improve accessibility to the municipalities' home services and other residents in the area. The municipalities' joint procurement was organised by the Swedish Association of Local Authorities in Skåne. One of the reasons for the municipalities choosing Europolitan was the possibility of making mobile telephone calls using internal short numbers. "We know that Europolitan is at the leading edge in developing new technologies and that they can tailor services for us. It's going to be easier to get in touch with decision-makers in the municipality because the last four digits of their fixed line numbers will also to be the last four digits of their mobile telephone numbers. They are also going to analyse our existing subscription and structure it for us - another very good reason for choosing them," says Knut Külick, the Telecommunication Coordinator of Vellinge municipality. The seventeen municipalities are Vellinge, Landskrona, Hässleholm, Osby, Östra, Göinge, Höör, Ystad, Burlöv, Lomma, Tomelilla, Staffanstorp, Kävlinge, Krisitanstad, Bjuv, Svedala, Bromölla and Svalöv. Between 4,500 and 6,000 people who work for the municipalities will become subscribers. And Europolitan now has agreements with 21 of Skåne's 33 municipalities. Europolitan's coverage in Skåne will be enhanced in the following areas: Vallarum in Sjöbo municipality, Norra Rörum in Höör municipality, Nävlinge and Verum in Hässleholm municipality, Boalt in Ostra Göinge, Kaffatorp in Kristianstad municipality, Visseltofta in Osby municipality, Hallryd in Älmhult municipality, Smedstorp in Tomelilla municipality and three other areas which are yet to be decided.
