ESMG's international hockey site Elite Prospects has today reached a strong milestone. On Thursday, the subscription service EP Premium passed 10,000 paying subscribers. “This is proof that EP Premium has really found the right market, and gives us a strong foundation to be able to develop and refine the service with even better content and more features for hockey lovers”, says Hannes Andersson, CEO of ESMG.

Elite Prospects has long been an authority in global hockey media, with over 1 million unique visitors per week from around the world. Earlier this year, the site launched local news sites in Germany and Finland, and as an intense hockey season draws to a close, the company now has more than 10,000 paying subscribers to the EP Premium service.

EP Premium was released in June 2018 and has been expanded continuously over the years. Among other things, with the addition of the editorial concept EP Rinkside, the career tool EP Verified and around 30 unique features aimed at hockey fans, active players and professional users. Earlier this week, Elite Prospects also released its annual guide to the NHL draft, which helped push the service over 10,000 active customers, who every month pays 9 dollars / 90 SEK / 9 euros.

“It is a very nice level to get to 10,000 paying customers, but it is also just the beginning. The potential is still huge. This gives us a solid base and financial security to expand the concept at an even higher pace. We have plenty of new features for fans, players and hockey clubs on the drawing board, we are currently designing our very own mobile app and will make an even bigger investment in content this fall, says Peter Sibner, President of ESMG North America and brand manager for Elite Prospects .

As international hockey has restarted large-scale after the pandemic, the influx of new customers has been strong during the first half of the year. Above all, it is the customer base in North America that shows very strong growth month by month. But a 30 percent net growth so far in 2021 is also explained by the fact that hard work to keep a low churn rate has yielded results.

“As the service is constantly evolving and we develop features for new user groups, we also retain customers to a greater extent. The proportion of customers who drop out is steadily declining and it is proof that we really add something that is valuable to hockey lovers in the long term”, Peter Sibner continues.
