(Oslo, 31 October 2018) Monobank has become one of the first banks in the Nordic region to introduce Google’s mobile payment solution for its customers. EVRY has enabled use of Google’s mobile payment solution by digitising customers’ bank cards on their mobile phones.

Google is one of the major providers of mobile phone-based payment services. With Google Pay, you can use an Android phone as a means of payment in any shop with a contactless payment terminal or to make purchases in apps and in online stores. You can also add all your credit cards to Google Pay and gather all your purchases together on your own Google account.

Monobank is a fully digital bank whose goal is to deliver the best customer experience, and an important part of its growth strategy is geographic expansion.

“We are proud to be one of the first banks in Norway to provide customers with Google Pay. As a digital bank, it is natural for us to give our customers the opportunity to use new forms of payment and innovative digital services. In order to be quick to market, it is important to have good partners that support both global trends and national initiatives. EVRY is at the forefront of developing card and mobile payment solutions, and is an important contributor to our ability to deliver new services and products as early as possible”, comments Martin Valland, CTO of Monobank.

“Paying for things should be easy, quick and secure, and innovation and customer engagement are high on Monobank’s agenda. We are proud to be a contributor to Monobank’s launch of Google Pay. Its customers will now have access to a user-friendly payment method that can be used in millions of locations in many countries”, comments Christer Jonsson, SVP Cards at EVRY.

Monobank is a challenger bank set up in 2015, and it has recently launched its own credit card app, Mono Pay, and Widerøe Visa credit cards. EVRY provides the entire underlying value chain of credit card services to the bank, from physical and virtual credit cards and mobile payment solutions to card production and related services.

EVRY has a comprehensive Nordic offering and specialist expertise in card technology and mobile payment, and the company delivers services to more than 100 card issuers across 12 countries. Every year EVRY produces around 25 million cards and monitors more than one billion card transactions across the globe in order to detect and stop fraud.
