Excillum enters the South Korean market
Since 2009 Excillum has shipped its MetalJet X-ray sources to the world’s most demanding test and research instrument manufacturers and laboratories. The key markets have included the US, Europe, China and Japan. Now, Excillum's first two MetalJet sources are being shipped to South Korea which is another milestone reached for the Stockholm-based X-ray innovators.
"South Korea has been a target market for Excillum based on the advanced technology development in the country. It is a powerhouse for semiconductor design, production, and quality assurance which powers the future of communications and computing. To stay in the forefront, South Korea will invest heavily in basic science in the coming years. Excillum is proud to contribute", says David Lindblom, COO at Excillum.
The Excillum MetalJet will enable very advanced X-ray diffraction, which for example can be used for investigating quantum properties of new low-dimensional electronic systems. This paves the way for further advances in semiconductor and quantum computing. Also, the Excillum MetalJet will help moving high-end X-ray microscopy from large-scale synchrotron facilities to wider industrial deployments in e.g. new semiconductor and materials development.
Nano Lab Korea, Excillum’s local partner in South Korea with more than 20 years of X-ray technology experience, is focusing on scientific instrument sales and service.
"Based on a solid evaluation process with focus on performance and reliability, and enabling new applied science, we look forward to further advancing South Korea's scientific abilities. Both Institute of Basic Science and Pohang Accelerator Laboratory will receive their new X-ray sources before end of the year. This is only the beginning of a successful partnership with Excillum", says Hak Jun Lee, CEO of Nano Lab Korea.

Excillum AB is a leading company in the field of high-end, microfocus X-ray sources. Excillum was founded in 2007 by a group of researchers from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. Excillum designs, develops and manufactures a high-brightness, microfocus X-ray source based on MetalJet technology. Unprecedented X-ray intensities are achieved with this unique, patented technology. The second generation MetalJet X-ray sources are now available for applications such as diffraction/scattering (XRD, SAXS), Spectroscopy (XRF, XPS), Imaging (NDT, CT, XRM, phase contrast) etc. Excillum has reached a strong market position and is now in an expansive phase.
