Gennevilliers, France (02/07/2026) – Exide Technologies (https://www.exidegroup), a leading provider of energy storage solutions, today announced the launch of its new Marathon Pure Energy and Marathon Pure Energy FT battery ranges. Based on advanced Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) AGM technology, the new additions strengthen the renowned Marathon portfolio with a next-generation solution designed to meet the growing demands of critical infrastructure.

As digital infrastructure continues to expand, operators increasingly require backup power solutions that combine high reliability, long service life, low maintenance requirements and competitive total cost of ownership. The Marathon Pure Energy range has been developed to address these requirements while offering a straightforward replacement solution for existing installations.

Reliable performance for tough environments

The new batteries are designed for telecommunications, data centers, commercial UPS and industrial applications where uninterrupted power is essential. Their high energy density, long design life and performance across a wide operating temperature range contribute to high system availability while supporting efficient use of installation space and competitive lifetime operating costs.

At the core of the new range is Exide Technologies’ advanced TPPL AGM technology - an AGM VRLA battery design using thin plates with pure lead. Compared with conventional lead-calcium batteries, it delivers higher energy density, longer service life and maintenance-free operation, supporting reliable operation while reducing system complexity.

Manufactured in Europe on dedicated automated production lines, with quality controls at every stage, the Marathon Pure Energy range reflects Exide Technologies’ commitment to local manufacturing and sustainable production. The batteries are produced at the company’s plant in Portugal. Solar energy generated by its photovoltaic installation contributes to reducing CO emissions at the site by more than 20%, in line with Exide’s sustainability strategy and circular economy approach.

“Reliable backup power has become a strategic requirement for modern telecommunications and digital infrastructure,” said Serge Arbes, Senior Business Director Global Energy Solutions at Exide Technologies. “With Marathon Pure Energy, we combine the established Marathon platform with the capabilities of TPPL technology. The result is a solution that supports high reliability and consistent performance, even in demanding environments, while helping operators strengthen network resilience and manage lifetime operating costs.”

The Marathon Pure Energy range offers a design life of up to 15 years, while Marathon Pure Energy FT provides up to 20 years under specified operating conditions. Both products are suited to demanding stationary backup power applications.
