Monika Mundt-Petersen will develop the strategy for Fabege’s large portfolio of residential development rights

The underlying demand for qualitative housing in the right locations in Stockholm is expected to remain strong for a long time to come. Apart from development rights for commercial premises, Fabege has approximately 500,000 sqm of existing residential development rights, primarily in Solna and Huddinge. Monika Mundt-Petersen, in a newly established role, will ensure that Fabege optimises the value creation in relation to these residential development rights.

Monika Mundt-Petersen has extensive previous experience of housing development, including as a Business developer at Järntorget Bostad AB and as a Planning officer at the City of Stockholm’s Planning Office. She has most recently held a position as a Business developer within urban and property development at Fabege. Her mission will be to proactively analyse and drive strategic issues in order to optimise the value of the residential development rights portfolio – partly based on a city district development perspective and partly based on long-term value creation for Fabege as a company. The result of the strategy can involve continued development via joint ventures or other forms of cooperation, divestment of development rights or more development under the Company’s own management than previously.

“We see good opportunities both to optimise the value of the portfolio and to take even greater responsibility for the development in our areas through a deeper engagement in the development of apartments, without taking the focus away from our commercial premises,” says Stefan Dahlbo, President and CEO of Fabege.

In order to create lively city districts with a high level of attractiveness, a well-adjusted balance between a day and night population is required, among other things. Life between buildings creates a sense of security. In line with the development of Arenastaden, Haga Norra, Solna Business Park and now also Flemingsbergsdalen, Fabege has built up an ever larger portfolio of residential development rights and the Company is currently developing apartments in Haga Norra, Kista and Råsunda together with various partners.
