For the first time a group of leading security businesses from the UK have been selected by the UK Trade and Investment Department to showcase their innovation at IACP. Included in the line up is Facewatch, the leading ACPO appoved online crime reporting system.

Facewatch is the UKs only Police approved online crime reporting system enabling businesses to upload still and moving images of an incident directly to the Police. This is the first system which provides the public with an 'open platform' interface to the Police.

Trialled across London in 2011 Facewatch is now used extensively by the MET Police with a roll out to all 43 UK Polices in progress. The system has been a hit with large and small retail and entertainment businesses and has also been adopted by many Business Crime Reduction Partnerships across the UK. The ability to create online banning orders and share this information with CRP members immediately is seen as an immediate added value that will improve the ability of security staff to respond to problem individuals especially in busy city centres.

Earlier this year and in time for the Olympics, Facewatch working closely with the MET Police, launched Facewatch ID which enables the public to view images of people the police 'would like to speak to' on a mobile App. The images, approved by the MET, are uploaded to a secure cloud and the public are able to view images by entering their postcode. Many of the images were collated during the 2011 riots and the App has enabled the Police to identify with the public's help many more individuals. The App is confidential and the user does not have to reveal their identity.
