Student accommodation provider, Kexgill has announced Family Fund as their Charity of the year for 2016/17. Kexgill are an award winning company providing accommodation services to students in nine locations across the North of England for over 36 years.

Kexgill Managing Director Richard Stott was motivated to learn more about Family Fund after a chance encounter with a parent of disabled children in a pub in Beverley. After hearing the challenges that families face raising disabled children as well as how Family Fund had helped to ease the pressures on this family, Richard was inspired to help Family Fund to support more families raising disabled children and young people.

The team at Kexgill were tasked with finding imaginative fundraising activities designed to engage and motivate Kexgill staff and their student tenants to raise money for Family Fund. The first of these fundraising activities is a Hipster Beard growing campaign throughout March and April which is sure to capture the imagination of many students and Family Fund supporters alike. Richard said;

“Kexgill is pleased to name Family Fund as their 2016/17 Charity of the Year. Family Fund is an inspirational charity making a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of families raising disabled children all across the UK every year. We are proud to be working in partnership with this great charity and we are looking forward to many successful fundraising activities with our staff and tenants that produce much needed financial support for Family Fund”.

The partnership between Family Fund and Kexgill offers great opportunities for Family Fund as the Chief Executive of Family Fund Cheryl Ward explains;

“We are delighted to have been named Charity of the Year by Kexgill and look forward to working in partnership with them over the next 12 months and beyond. For Family Fund this partnership represents an incredible opportunity to raise much needed funds, and awareness of the challenges that hundreds of thousands of families face on a day to day basis when caring for a child with a disability or serious illness. Together Kexgill and the Family Fund can make a real difference to the lives of disabled children and young people and my team and I are excited at the opportunities that lie ahead. I am very grateful to Kexgill for choosing Family Fund as their Charity of the Year”
