Tripep has identified two new substances against HIV. Tripep earlier announced the finding of alphaHGA, a new candidate drug against HIV having a totally new mode of action. Accordingly, alphaHGA was the first substance in an entirely new class of compounds against HIV. Now Tripep can report on the identification of two additional substances in this new class of drugs against HIV. In collaboration with the Rega Institute in Leuven, Tripep has tested a large number of synthesized compounds having similar molecular structure to alphaHGA, so called analogues, for possible anti-HIV activity. Tripep has identified two alphaHGA analogues that inhibit replication of HIV in the same manner as alphaHGA. . -"Although it is to early to determine whether these two substances will ultimately make it to clinical trials, the discovery of the two new compounds provide more evidence that alphaHGA and related compounds are an effective new class of antivirals against HIV.
