Fennovoima has signed agreements with four landowners and has acquired more than 200 hectares of land in Karsikko and Laitakari areas in Simo. The acquired land alone is sufficient for a nuclear plant but additional acquisitions are not excluded.

In October 2007, Fennovoima closed a deal and acquired some 600 hectares of land in Ruotsinpyhtää. After the latest acquisitions made in Simo, Fennovoima has ensured enough land for a nuclear plant in two locations.

Fennovoimas Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is going on in four locations: Kristinestad, Pyhäjoki, Ruotsinpyhtää and Simo. In Kristinestad and Pyhäjoki, land acquisitions and negations continue simultaneously with the EIA process.

Fennovoima's EIA report is to be finished in October 2008, and the whole EIA process in February 2009. Immediately after this, Fennovoima will submit to the Finnish Government the application for a Decision-in-Principle for building a nuclear plant.
