FENNOVOIMA AIMS AT INCREASING COMPETITION

Fennovoima’s shareholders need stable and competitively priced electricity in Finland. Our 64 shareholders represent wide range of members of the Finnish society, including industrial, merchandise, service and municipal electricity companies.

Fennovoima’s key target is to increase competition in the electricity market. More competition is in the interests of electricity consumers and the Finnish society as a whole. From this starting point, Fennovoima is ready to cooperate openly and constructively.

Yesterday, Minister of Economic Affairs Mauri Pekkarinen expressed his wish that all possible applications for the Decision-in-Principle for a nuclear power plant could be processed simultaneously. Fennovoima welcomes this statement. Processing the applications at the same time ensures that the evaluation of the overall good of society, required by the law, can be optimised.

Fennovoima will submit its Decision-in-Principle application for a nuclear power plant to the Government in the beginning of 2009.
