FENNOVOIMA HAS OBTAINED LAND IN KRISTINESTAD

Fennovoima has ensured enough land for a nuclear power plant in Kristinestad, Western Finland. Fennovoima has leased from six private landowners an area of 250 hectares. The agreements include an option for Fennovoima to purchase the land.

The area is located in the north and north-east of Storträsket lake. The area is in line with Fennovoima's EIA process. Additional agreements in the area are possible.

As a result of technical regional planning, a nuclear plant could be located far away from the shoreline on the continent in the north side of Storsträsket. This means that current residences and summer houses would not be affected. Cooling waters would be transported to underground and underwater tunnels that can be kilometers long if needed.

Fennovoima has been aware of Kristinestads wish that Fennovoima obtains land before the city starts its land planning. The land obtained now is sufficient for building a power plant and therefore the land planning in cooperation with the city can be started. Fennovoima is prepared to cover the land planning costs.
