FPC awarded major Design Win with four mobile phones and one tablet PC from existing prominent Asian customer
Fingerprint Cards’ swipe sensor technology has been awarded additional Design Wins (DW) from an existing, renowned Asian customer for an additional four mobile phones plus one tablet PC, all scheduled to be launched in the market during the second half of 2013. The expected initial volume is four million units in 2013.
Fingerprint Cards has earlier announced multiple mobile and tablet design wins in Japan, China and a third unnamed Asian country. The company is now delighted and proud to announce its first major follow-up design win from one of its most distinguished customers. Due to the prevailing competitive situation, the mobile phone manufacturer wants to remain anonymous until further notice.
Johan Carlström, CEO of FPC comments: “This design win is an add-on and follow-up design win from one of the earlier DWs we have informed about and that we see as strong recognition of the fact that the first project is proceeding as planned and will be launched during the second quarter of 2013. These additional four smartphones and the pad will be launched during the second half of 2013, in time for the critical Christmas sales period, which accounts for up to 40% of annual mobile phone sales in certain markets. As a result of its world-leading capacitive fingerprint technology, image quality and lower power consumption, FPC has now further strengthened its world-leading position in fingerprint sensors in mobile phones and tablets. To date, FPC has secured 100% of the announced ongoing projects involving mobile phones globally (excluding Apple) and we expect to secure additional multiple DWs in both Asia and North America during the quarters ahead.
