DEMAND FOR SUMMER CONCERT BRINGS NEW EVENT TO BRISTOL
Organisers of the Bristol event, Concert on the Close, have announced plans to stage a gigantic pop concert in 2013 following overwhelming public interest in the classical meets pop fusion at this Summer’s musical extravaganza for the city, 'Concert on the Close: Around the World in 150 Minutes.’
The Concert’s eclectic fusion of musical genres will be headlined by soul sensation Jocelyn Brown, alternative pop band, Young Kato and the UK’s hottest new girl group, Vanquish with a classical performance by the Bristol Ensemble. Taking to the stage the artists will unite to celebrate Clifton’s 150th anniversary with spectacular performances for live music fans. Music will meet art as the show stopping live performances culminate in a unique sound and light show featuring film footage of the multi-award winning actor Simon Russell-Beale, described by The Independent as 'the greatest stage actor of his generation' and exclusive footage of John Cleese, which will be screened for the first time at the event on Friday 6th July at Clifton College, starting at 8pm.
From Soul and R&B to Gospel, Dance, Pop, House, Disco and even Opera, Jocelyn Brown is one of the most versatile and respected vocalists in the industry and continues to write, record and perform all over the world today. As well as performing some of her latest R&B songs and top ten hits including “Always There” and “Somebody Else’s Guy”, the soul diva will give a special one-off performance to wow the crowd, unleashing her inimitable Gospel vocal with a unique performance of ‘He’s Got the Whole World in his Hands’, together with the Bristol Ensemble, the city’s 45 piece professional chamber orchestra, and Clifton music scholars, including violin prodigy and Young Musician of the Year contender, Julia Hwang.
Concert organisers have also made a special announcement for live music fans, offering a limited number of the best seats in the house, VIP Golden Circle front row seats, for a limited time only at a special rate of £40 with no concessions. Tickets for Concert on the Close are also now available at £25 and £15 concessions at www.eventsatclifton.com. Proceeds from the Concert will go to support the Prince’s Trust, Life for a Cure and the Quartet Community Foundation.
Clifton College Headmaster, Mark Moore, is thrilled the event is being held at the College, he said recently, “Around the World in 150 minutes is a dynamic fusion of popular and classical music and will be a huge event not only for Clifton, but for Bristol & the South West. Celebrating Clifton's achievements over its 150 year history, The 'Concert on the Close' is set to be an incredible evening bringing together music stars and the College's own superb musicians, concluding at dusk with a unique, dramatic, sound and light experience”.

About Life for a Cure
Meningitis is a devastating disease. It can come out of nowhere and can kill in under 4 hours. Following the tragic death of our son Ryan, aged 16, 'a Life for a Cure' was born as a fundraising vehicle working closely in association with Meningitis UK. Although fantastic progress has been made over the last 20 years, there is still no vaccine available to protect against all forms of meningitis and associated diseases, including the most common form in the UK, meningococcal group B. 1 in 10 victims will die, 1 in 7 of those who survive will suffer some form of permanent disability, with at least six lives taken every week. It is vital investment continues into both research and creating awareness of this merciless disease to ultimately achieve the overall aim of eradicating all forms of meningitis.
