Electrolube’s UV Cure Coating Wins SMT China VISION Award
Electrolube, the leading manufacturer of specialist chemicals for the electronics, automotive and industrial manufacturing industries, today announced that its UVCL UV cure conformal coating has won the 8th SMT China Vision Award in the Conformal Coatings category. The VOC-free coating was selected as Best Assembly Material Product by a panel of well-known SMT experts for its ultra fast dry-time, environmental properties, low viscosity, ease of application and versatility for a wide range of applications.
The SMT Vision Awards serve as benchmarks of excellence, recognising industry leaders in technology, efficiency, environmental benefits and quality for the surface mount assembly sector. The Awards, organised by SMT China, were announced at the World Expo Center, Shanghai, during NEPCON China, where winning products were judged specifically on their creativity, advanced nature, and contribution to helping the industry reduce cost, improve quality, increase efficiency, enhance reliability, ensure safety and protect the environment.
The 100% solids coating was launched by Electrolube during the second half of 2013 and is one the most environmentally-friendly conformal coating products on the market. UVCL became an instant success after launching due to its versatility in different application processes and excellent resistance to common ‘thermal shock’ cycling, moisture vapour, salt-spray, solvent and fluid exposure, and condensing environments.
UVCL meets IPC-CC-830 requirements and is UL94 V-0 rated. The coating is highly flexible and cures in seconds with conveyorised UV lamps or within 3 days at ambient temperatures and humidity to ensure cure even in shadowed areas. With a 12-month shelf life, the single-component, low-viscosity UVCL provides superior ‘sharp-edge’ coverage than other materials with common selective coating methods.
