Denmark’s two leading camping chains will soon become one. First Camp is continuing its growth journey with the acquisition of the Danish camping chain CampOne. Through the transaction, First Camp will take over four destinations with a combined annual turnover of almost SEK 50 million.

First Camp already has nine destinations in Denmark under the brand name First Camp, as well as Jesperhus Feriepark, one of Denmark’s popular holiday destinations for families with children. The acquisition of CampOne sees First Camp’s operations in Denmark grow with the addition of four new destinations. The ownership of the fifth CampOne destination, Assens Strand, will remain with Per and Gitte Blaabjerg, although under the new brand name. CampOne will be owned by United Camping Campsite HoldCo AB, a sister company to First Camp Group AB, and the ownership will thus be outside the bond structure in First Camp Group AB.

“CampOne has well-managed and popular destinations, and we are delighted that Per and Gitte have given us a vote of confidence by choosing us to take over their life’s work. They have done a fantastic job developing CampOne, and we will do our utmost to preserve their legacy and continue the development of the destinations. As usual, our future plans and developments will be based on input from the campsite guests, and it will be 'business as usual' with retention of the CampOne brand name during the summer of 2023”, says Johan Söör, First Camp’s Group CEO.

The sellers, Gitte & Per Blaabjerg, have the following comment:

“We have decided to sell CampOne to the well-known Scandinavian camping chain First Camp. Our choice of First Camp ensures that CampOne will remain in the hands of an owner with strong capital, extensive experience and excellent opportunities to further develop CampOne.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our guests who have visited our campsites – some of whom have been with us since the very start in 1992. Without you, this wonderful journey would never have been possible.”

Ola Bååth, Chief Investment Officer at First Camp, adds: “The acquisition of CampOne provides a portfolio of well-invested destinations in very attractive locations. Looking forward, we see great value in continuing to develop the CampOne destinations in the spirit of the Blaabjerg family, with focus on quality and guest satisfaction.”

Possession is expected to change hands at the turn of the month March/April.
