Fishhound to Promote National Invasive Species Awareness Week at BASSMASTER Classic
SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., Feb 23, 2012 – Fishhound.com, the the world’s largest social network dedicated to angling and leading provider of real-time fishing reports, is aligning with Recycled Fish, the Mississippi River Basin Panel, Clean Angling and DICK’S Sporting Goods as part of an extensive effort to gain widespread attention for invasive species prevention. Through the partnership, they aim to kick off National Invasive Species Awareness Week (February 28 - March 4, 2012) by launching a new interactive game that will attract a young audience and ultimately make the subject of preventing invasive species fun, dynamic and engaging.
Fishhound.com will host a 10-week series, written by Teeg Stouffer, Executive Director of Recycled Fish, on preventing the spread of invasive species. The column will kick off with the introduction of this game at the Bassmaster Classic in Shreveport, Louisiana. The game, Whac-a-Mussel, designed to entertain as well as inform, will help engage fishing enthusiasts and increase their understanding of the importance of invasive species prevention. National Invasive Species Awareness Week will also be promoted to over 240,000 Fishhound Facebook fans, with interactive posts to create awareness and teach people about invasive species.
