Fiskars Partners with The Home Depot Foundation & the International Rescue Committee to Restore Services in Haiti

MADISON, Wis. (February 24, 2010) Fiskars®, a leading supplier of tools for the home, garden, and outdoors, announced a donation of $25,000 in tools—shovels, post-hole diggers, and pitch-forks—to support emergency response efforts of the International Rescue Committee. The IRC’s goal is to restore essential services to Haiti, including water, sanitation, hygiene, protection of women and children, and overall economic recovery.

The donation was facilitated by The Home Depot Foundation who responded immediately to the crisis last month with an offer to connect the retail giant’s vast network of vendors and suppliers with non-profit organizations.

“We’re proud to be able to provide tools that are critical to the most basic but essential efforts to rebuild communities in Haiti,” said Fiskars President Paul Tonnesen. “We’re grateful to The Home Depot Foundation for their important role in connecting our company with an organization with an immediate plan for putting our tools to work.”

The catastrophic earthquake that struck Port –Au-Prince, Haiti on January 12th displaced more than a million people and affected over three million people*.
