Fiskars Donates 115,000 Scissors to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Looks Forward to 2013 Partnership
MADISON, Wis. (November 30, 2012) – Fiskars, a leading global supplier of consumer products for the home, garden and outdoors, is donating 115,000 preschool scissors to Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) to be distributed to Club art rooms, study spaces, and to Club members nationwide this holiday season. The scissors donation, with a total retail value of approximately $226,000, kicks off a national partnership between Fiskars and BGCA to support arts programming in Clubs.
“Fiskars has worked closely with the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County over the past several years and we look forward to supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of America on a national level through the holiday season and into 2013,” said Fiskars President Paul Tonnesen. “We’re excited to join Boys & Girls Clubs of America in their efforts to encourage youth across the country and give them the tools needed to achieve their goals.”
During 2013, Fiskars classroom scissors packaging will feature the partnership with BGCA. The partnership includes a $115,000 donation to support arts programming in Clubs, and will offer art projects and a monthly contest to Clubs nationwide. The contest will recognize Club members for their exemplary art projects with a $500 scholarship for the individual winner and $500 for their corresponding Club. Together, Fiskars and BGCA are helping foster creativity through the arts and enabling youth to develop skills they need to achieve great futures.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of America is deeply thankful for Fiskars’ support,” said Kimberly Boyd, vice president, Program and Youth Development Services, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “Our Clubs are seeking to enhance creative educational opportunities for youth and provide access to tools and resources. Through Fiskars’ donation and partnership around arts programming, we are able to provide an engaging learning environment and meet the needs of the young people we serve.”
