Swedish user generated content (UGC) platform provider Flowbox has been selected to take part in Facebook’s 12-week Accelerator: Commerce program.

Flowbox is one of only 11 European startups invited to participate in the newly launched Facebook Facebook Accelerator: Commerce program. The mentorship program has been introduced for startups in Europe, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East offering technologically innovative solutions to help enhance the Facebook commercial experience.

Flowbox, founded in 2016, provides a platform that enables companies to easily collect, manage and distribute UGC in their digital and social channels and ads. The company has grown quickly and today has more than 50 employees in four countries serving 400+ customers in 20 markets.

“We’re very excited and proud to be chosen to participate in Facebook’s accelerator program. It is a recognition of our hard work and commitment to innovation and technological excellence. Being one of only a handful of European startups selected demonstrates Flowbox’s value for commerce and underscores the fast-growing UGC trend” says Marcus Carloni, CEO and founder of Flowbox.

Facebook’s global Accelerator: Commerce program kicked off on 12 November 2020 and will run for 3 months. All 36 participating startups will receive 1:1 mentorship, comprehensive training on Facebook’s approach to products and businesses, and exclusive access to a global network of industry experts and fellow successful startup peers.

The commerce accelerator program has been launched at an ideal time: 2020 has seen an abrupt change to traditional retail and now businesses of all sizes are adapting and pivoting to selling online.

“Our mission is centered on making sure all businesses—from entrepreneurs to established brands—have the tools they need to connect with customers and make shopping online a seamless experience,” wrote Michael Huang, Head of Startup Programs at Facebook, said in a blog post.

This year Flowbox has added a range of new features to its UGC platform. This includes the possibility of embedding UGC in emails and using UGC in social media ads on Facebook. The latest addition is a feature called UGC DPA, which allows companies to incorporate customer photos in dynamic product ads on Facebook and Instagram as well.

“We are eager to collaborate and gain insights from Facebook and to continue to grow our partnership. The Flowbox platform is ever-evolving and we are excited to see where we’ll be in three months’ time following this mentorship program. Facebook is a great commercial platform with high potential to be a game-changer in customer behavior. We are happy to work on synergies here and believe they will yield outstanding results. This opportunity will help us to continue to build the next generation's marketing platform” says Vlada Ivankova, Head of Product at Flowbox.

In the selection process, Facebook searched for innovative startups that provide a value adding product; solutions that help buyers make more informed purchasing decisions; groundbreaking technology or research; and have a diverse and focused leadership team that is hungry to learn from and collaborate with Facebook.

“Flowbox has achieved some tremendous milestones recently. In October we became the first Swedish-founded company to reach creative Facebook partner status and then now to be handpicked for Facebook’s accelerator program is an acknowledgment of our platform’s many benefits and future potential,” adds Marcus Carloni.
