Munich Airport and bayern design team up for new exhibition

  • Until November 21 in Terminal 2, Level 04
  • Innovations "Made in Bavaria"
  • LabCampus: an optimal networking environment for joint development of innovative solutions, products and services

The new "Discoverers" exhibition, hosted in Munich Airport's Terminal 2 by bayern design, the center of competency for design supported by the State of Bavaria, is centered around sports and technological innovations. From now until November 21, visitors can see exciting exhibits from the world of fitness and health. Bavarian companies or designers were involved in all of the ideas.

These include the sports footwear and apparel company PUMA from Herzogenaurach, which is presenting its new, sustainable "First Mile" sportswear collection. With the First Mile initiative, PUMA is supporting people in low-income communities in Haiti, Honduras and Taiwan who collect plastic bottles to produce recycled polyester for the textile industry. The US company GORE-TEX, with an office in Putzbrunn, south of Munich, has designed a special athletic shoe. The integrated GORE-TEX 3D FIT SOCK molds to the shape of the foot. The training shoes remain wind-resistant and waterproof but are breathable on the inside.

Tripstix is a mobile, inflatable stand-up paddle and surfboard. It was developed for all watersport enthusiasts. Manufactured by the company with the same name in Oberhaching, the Tripstix board consists of multiple air and vacuum chambers combined in a tubular system. With the patented VacuuAir technology, this product has greater stiffness and stability than conventional inflatable boards. It can even stand up to the test of wave riding.

LabCampus is creating the perfect environment for innovators and experts, global players, hidden champions and outstanding young companies. All under one roof, benefiting from the most modern of environments, companies and experts can jointly develop innovative solutions, products and services and present them directly to an audience on their doorstep: an international transport hub. LabCampus will combine working worlds with sports and wellness facilities as well as restaurant and event concepts. Detailed information on LabCampus is available at: www.labcampus.de

"Discoverers" is the fourth thematic exhibition in the five-part series "Bavarian design – lifestyles of the future" by bayern design, the center of competency for design supported by the State of Bavaria, in cooperation with Munich Airport. The final exhibition, "Smart Living" will start at the end of November and will remain open until the beginning of 2020.
