SEK 13 billion into investment funds in February

[2017-03-10] In February total net sales of investment funds amounted to SEK 13.1 billion. The largest deposits were made in equity funds with a recorded net inflow of over SEK 9 billion. The total fund assets in Sweden increased during February by nearly SEK 140 billion and amounted at the end of the month to a new record-high level, SEK 3 716 billion.

Investment funds recorded a total net inflow of SEK 13.1 billion in February. Equity funds recorded net deposits of SEK 9.1 billion and bond funds had a net inflow of 2.9 billion. Also balanced funds had net deposits of SEK 1.8 billion. Money market funds and hedge funds, on the other hand, recorded net outflows of SEK 0.5 and 0.3 billion respectively in February.

So far in 2017, total net sales of investment funds amounts to SEK 20 billion, of which 17 billion have been invested in equity funds.

“In February, the interest for investment funds was great. As in January, the largest net inflow went to equity funds and primarily to Sweden funds and Global funds”, says Fredrik Pettersson, Chief Analyst of the Swedish Investment Fund Association.  

In February, the global stock market development was positive and the value of the Stockholm Stock exchange (including dividends) rose by nearly 3 percent. Equity funds had a total net inflow of SEK 9.1 billion during the month. The largest net deposits were made in Sweden funds and global funds, whereas Russia funds and North America funds recorded net withdrawals during the month.

Bond funds recorded a total net inflow of SEK 2.9 billion in February, of which SEK 2 billion constituted net deposits in corporate bond funds.

The total fund assets in Sweden increased in February by SEK 137 billion and amounted at the end of the month to a record-high SEK 3 716 billion. Of the total fund assets, SEK 2 151 billion (equivalent to 58 percent) was invested in equity funds.
