The pretty canal-side gardens at Bridgeside Lodge Care Centre were the perfect setting for a barbecue hosted by the Islington care home for visitors on Friday 19 June as part of National Care Home Open Day.

“Everyone had a great time - the sun shone, the food was great and live music added to the happy atmosphere as visitors and residents chatted together,” says comments centre manager, Fatma Makalo.

One of the aims of the UK-wide initiative Care Home Open Day is to build relationships between care home residents, staff and local people, and give people the opportunity to see for themselves the kind of excellent care services available in their area.

“Our care home is very homely and welcoming, and full of friendly, caring, interesting people. We welcome visitors any time, not just on Care Home Open Day, and they will always be greeted warmly,” adds Fatma.

The custom-built care home, which looks after people aged 18 and over with neurological and spinal conditions, as well as older residents, provides an idyllic setting in the heart of Islington on Wharf Road. It has 64 bedrooms spread across four independently-operating floors, each catering for the different needs of residents. Bridgeside Lodge is part of the Forest Healthcare group of homes, which includes 13 individual homes throughout the South East of England. For more information on Bridgeside Lodge, please visit www.foresthc.com or call 0207 250 0156. Visits are welcomed at any time, with no appointment necessary.
