A Victorian tea party is being served to residents of a care home in Crowthorne for Dignity Action Day on Tuesday 3 February from 2.00pm-4.00pm.

While enjoying cake and a cuppa served by staff dressed in Victorian costume, the residents of Pinehurst Care Centre will be encouraged to chat about what dignity means to them, and the work being done by the Dignity in Care Campaign and its key partners to highlight the importance of preserving the dignity of people in care through its national initiative Dignity Action Day.

“Treating individuals with dignity and respect is at the root of everything we do here at Pinehurst - it’s the key to creating a happy and caring environment for our residents, so Dignity Action Day is a cause that’s very close to our hearts. We are very proud to celebrate not only what we are achieving here but the importance of promoting the health and happiness of people in a caring and safe environment,” comments centre manager, Lynne Cotterrell.

This sentiment is echoed by Sara Thackway whose mother lives at Pinehurst Care Centre: “My mother has been living here for over a year and is very happy and content. As a family member who visits often I find the staff extremely friendly, professional and very kind, caring and welcoming. The home is clean and excellently run. I love visiting her and seeing how well she is looked after.”

Pinehurst Care Centre is located on Duke’s Ride in Crowthorne, with 47 bedrooms offering a friendly, family environment for persons over 65, including specialist dementia care. Pinehurst is part of the Forest Healthcare group of homes, which includes 13 individual homes throughout the South East of England.
