Pictures from the National Care Home Open Day

The nets were up, covers off and all present tucked into strawberries and cream on Saturday in Crowthorne – no, Wimbledon didn’t start two days early, it was all organised for the tennis-themed open day at Pinehurst Care Centre!

The festivities, which was part of the National Care Home Open Day, saw staff, residents, guests take to the lawns at Pinehurst for an afternoon of fun, which took place on Saturday 21 June at the Crowthorne care centre.  With an entertainer on hand to keep visitors amused, and staff manning the refreshments – including a barbecue and lashings of fresh cream to go with luscious strawberries – the event continued successfully throughout the afternoon without a drop of rain to spoil play!

“Everyone had a lovely time – the weather was fantastic so everyone got a chance to enjoy the gardens, which were all in bloom, and we had several generations of families of some of our residents present, so it was a wonderful event,” comments centre manager, Lynne Cotterell.  “We swapped an umpire for a musician, so live music accompanied the traditional garden party, too.”

Anyone who missed the open day at Pinehurst but still wants to look around is welcome to visit at any other time.   “We welcome visitors to come and look around at any time without appointment as part of our open ethos so that people can get a feel for what the home is like on a ‘normal’ day,” adds Lynne.  “Potential residents’ families should never feel as though a home is making an extra special effort when they are expecting visitors, standards should always be at a very high level.”

Pinehurst Care Centre is located on Duke’s Ride in Crowthorne, with 47 bedrooms offering a friendly, family environment for persons over 65, including specialist dementia care.  Pinehurst is part of the Forest Healthcare group of homes, which includes 12 individual homes throughout the South East of England.  For more information on Pinehurst, please visit www.foresthc.com or call 08444 725 177.
