Gillingham care home sings to support Dignity Action Day

Music and singing are top of the bill for residents of a care home in Gillingham supporting Dignity Action Day on Sunday 1 February.

The residents of Grace Manor enjoy nothing more than a good sing-song, so an afternoon being entertained by a singer will be the perfect backdrop to chatting about what dignity means to them, and the work being done by the Dignity in Care Campaign and its key partners to highlight the importance of preserving the dignity of people in care through its national initiative Dignity Action Day.

“Treating individuals with dignity and respect is at the root of everything we do here at Grace Manor - it’s the key to creating a happy and caring environment for our residents, so Dignity Action Day is a cause that’s very close to our hearts. We are very proud to celebrate not only what we are achieving here but the importance of promoting the health and happiness of people in a caring and safe environment,” comments centre manager, Jackie Grant.

This sentiment is echoed by Nicola Radford, whose 91-year-old mother Vi Long, lives at Grace Manor: “I chose Grace Manor for my mother as the ambience is light, airy and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff."

Grace Manor is a beautiful listed building, featuring 53 individually-designed and furnished rooms, set in its own stunning grounds, which includes ruins of a church and a wall of Gillingham’s Archbishop’s Palace. The gardens are made up of an enclosed courtyard, a mature garden to the side of the building and a lawned area to the front. Grace Manor is part of the Forest Healthcare group of homes, which includes 13 individual homes throughout the South East of England.
