Staff and residents at Pinehurst Care Centre in Crowthorne are celebrating after receiving a glowing report from independent inspectors at the Care Quality Commission, following an unannounced visit last month.

“We’re delighted by this report, which is a real testament to how hard our staff work to give our residents the best possible life whilst they are in our care,” comments centre manager, Lynne Cotterell.  “The report reflects not only our policies and procedures, but the reassurance by residents and their families that these are implemented on a day-to-day basis.  Both the observations of the inspectors and comments from residents demonstrate the kindness, understanding and unhurried approach we take to putting our residents’ needs at the heart of their care.”

Amongst the aspects of the care at Pinehurst singled out by inspectors were the way that the home’s regular staff cover absence, meaning that no agency staff are used within the home.  “The staff here hold the residents in such high regard that they wouldn’t want ‘strangers’ coming in to look after their charges, so they are happy to cover each other’s holidays and any illness.  Their commitment to our residents is second to none, and it means that we can reassure residents that their loved ones have genuine continuity of care carried out to the highest standards,” adds Lynne.

CQC inspections can cover every aspect of the care provided in care homes, from the way that individual needs are met to ensuring the staff training is complete and up-to-date.  All care homes are inspected at least once per year, with inspectors arriving unannounced to conduct their reviews.  Staff are Pinehurst are well prepared for the inspections, as senior managers from its owners, Forest Healthcare, also conduct monthly checks, with action plans in maintain the highest standards of care.

Paul Musgrave, chief executive of Forest Healthcare, comments, “Families trust the Pinehurst team to offer the quality of care equal or higher than that they would be able to provide themselves, whether for a person who has become too frail to live independently, or for a loved one with complex needs.  We are delighted that Lynne’s team’s hard work has been recognised with such a glowing report.”

Pinehurst Care Centre is located on Duke’s Ride in Crowthorne, Berkshire.  It offers 47 bedrooms across three buildings, and cares for older residents, including those dementia, and those looking for respite or post-operative care.  The home has an open door policy for potential residents’ families to drop in at any time to take a look around.  For more information, please call 01344 774 233 or visit www.foresthc.com
