Residents, staff and visitors to the Poplars Care Centre in Maidstone made the most of the long summer day on Friday 20 June to enjoy a Pearly King & Queen-themed garden party.

“The British weather was kind to us, and we had a wonderful time in the gardens – we had entertainment from a real Pearly King & Queen, our own pop-up bar, scones, raffles and so many laughs, it was a fantastic afternoon,” comments centre manager, Marion Harford.

In total, £240 was raised for the British Heart Foundation.

Anyone who missed the open day at The Poplars but still wants to look around is welcome to visit at any other time. “We welcome visitors to come and look around at any time without appointment as part of our open ethos so that people can get a feel for what the home is like on a ‘normal’ day,” adds Marion.  “Potential residents’ families should never feel as though a home is making an extra special effort when they are expecting visitors, standards should always be at a very high level.”

The Poplars Care Centre is located on Tonbridge Road in Maidstone, with 56 bedrooms offering a friendly, family environment for persons over 65 with a range of needs, from respite and post-operative care to crisis intervention and emergency admissions.  The Poplars is part of the Forest Healthcare group of homes, which includes 12 individual homes throughout the South East of England.  For more information on The Poplars, please visit www.foresthc.com or call 08444 725 179.
