Residents at a Great Missenden care home took advantage of the National Care Home Open Day to give the Rt Hon Cheryl Gillan, MP for Chesham and Amersham a tour of their award winning home, Woodlands Park Care Centre, last Friday, 19 June 2015.

The visit was part of a day of activities for the residents, which included a performance by musicians from the local church of St Peter and St Paul and neighbouring village, Prestwood.

“It is wonderful for us to be recognised for leading the way in dementia care – firstly, when we were invited to meet the Prime Minister earlier this year, and now with the visit by Cheryl Gillan MP, and the residents took great pride and pleasure in showing her around their homes and into their rooms,” comments  Centre manager, Marie Shouler.  “We work so hard to ensure that people living with dementia can still enjoy a high quality of life, and this shone through throughout the visit.  It is wonderful that the people in a position to make a difference to families living with dementia are taking the time to see just what is possible with the right environment and support.”

Woodlands Park provides residential expert care for older people with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, or other forms of dementia and moderate to high confusion, and was recently awarded the Dignity and Wellbeing in Care award from Buckinghamshire County Council.  Visitors are welcome to look round any time, no appointment necessary.

Woodlands Park is located on Aylesbury Road, just outside the village of Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire.  It is part of the Forest Healthcare group of homes, which includes 13 individual homes throughout the South East of England.  For more information on Woodlands Park, please visit www.foresthc.com or call 01494 862535 /08444725138
