Staff at Warren Lodge Care Centre in Wokingham have their fingers crossed for hot Mediterranean sunshine on Friday 20 June, when the home opens its doors to the public for an afternoon of Spanish-themed fun as part of the National Care Home Open Day.

The grounds of the home will be transformed into the Costa Berkshire from 2.00pm to 4.30pm, with residents and staff wearing suitable themed attire to take a fun approach to the open day, during which members of the public can look around the home and garden, and meet those who call Warren Lodge their home.

Visitors will be serenaded by singing senorita Shirley Sheldon – a popular favourite with residents and regular visitor to the home – from 2.00pm until 3.00pm, and on the menu will be paella, chorizo and other Spanish dishes, washed down with fruity Sangria.

“Keeping residents entertained and active is so important to live here at Warren Lodge, and when we heard about National Care Home Open Day, we jumped at the chance to showcase the fantastic facilities and entertainment that we offer here,” comments Emma Harvey, who is organising the event with fellow event co-ordinator, Janine Wakefields.  “Anyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the fun – and if they want to wear a flamenco dress and bring castanets, they should fit right in!”

For anyone wanting to take a look at the accommodation at Warren Lodge, a couple of ‘show rooms’ will be open for viewing.

“It is wonderful to be participating in this national open day initiative, but for anyone who wants to come and look around Pinehurst, every day is an open day – we welcome visitors to come and look around at any time without appointment as part of our open ethos so that people can get a feel for what the home is like on a ‘normal’ day,” comments centre manager, Anthony Browne.  “Potential residents’ families should never feel as though a home is making an extra special effort when they are expecting visitors, standards should always be at a very high level.”

Warren Lodge Care Centre is located on Warren Lane in Finchampstead, Wokingham, with 51 bedrooms many of which have leafy views over the Berkshire farmland and countryside.  The home offers a friendly, family environment for persons over 65, including specialist dementia care.  Warren Lodge is part of the Forest Healthcare group of homes, which includes 12 individual homes throughout the South East of England.  For more information on Warren Lodge, please visit www.foresthc.com or call 08444 725 186.
