A Wimbledon-themed garden party awaits visitors to Pinehurst Care Centre in Crowthorne, Berkshire, on Saturday 21 June when the home opens its doors to the public as part of the National Care Home Open Day.

From 2.00pm until 4.00pm, the grounds of Pinehurst will be filled with entertainers, residents and visitors for a traditional English garden party, complete with tombola, raffle and a home-baked cake stall.  Musicians and even a group of young gymnasts will provide the afternoon’s entertainment.

“Whether you are looking for a care home for a loved one, or simply looking for a fun afternoon out, we’d be more than happy to welcome you along to Pinehurst for this open afternoon,” comments centre manager, Lynne Cotterrell.

Also on the menu for the open day will be food testing sessions from Apetito, who will be piloting some of their new dishes at Pinehurst over the coming month ahead of their national launch.  Specialising in meals for care homes, Apetito’s appetising and nutritious dishes include conventional dishes as well as foods for residents with swallowing difficulties that retain all the taste and appearance of a wholesome meal with an easy-to-swallow texture.

“Food is such an important part of the daily routine, that we’re really pleased to be piloting new ranges with Apetito, and giving our open day visitors a chance to try out some of the delicious fare on offer,” adds Lynne.

For anyone wanting to take a look at the accommodation at Pinehurst, a number of available rooms will be open for viewing.

“It is wonderful to be participating in this national open day initiative, but for anyone who wants to come and look around Pinehurst, every day is an open day – we welcome visitors to come and look around at any time without appointment as part of our open ethos so that people can get a feel for what the home is like on a ‘normal’ day,” adds Lynne.  “Potential residents’ families should never feel as though a home is making an extra special effort when they are expecting visitors, standards should always be at a very high level.”

Pinehurst Care Centre is located on Duke’s Ride in Crowthorne, with 47 bedrooms offering a friendly, family environment for persons over 65, including specialist dementia care.  Pinehurst is part of the Forest Healthcare group of homes, which includes 12 individual homes throughout the South East of England.  For more information on Pinehurst, please visit www.foresthc.com or call 08444 725 177.
