Wokingham care home puts the pamper into Dignity Action Day

An indulgent treat awaits residents of a care home in Wokingham celebrating Dignity Action Day with two pamper days on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 February.

The hardest choice the residents of Warren Lodge Care Centre will have to make is which order to enjoy a manicure, a massage, a makeup demonstration or having their hair done, while the men have an added benefit in the shape of a real ‘barber shop’ experience with wet shaves and cologne.

Dignity Action Day is a national initiative led by the Dignity in Care Campaign and its key partners to highlight the importance of preserving the dignity of people in care, which is at the root of everything Warren Lodge does, as centre manager Anthony Browne explains: “Treating individuals with dignity and respect is the key to creating a happy and caring environment for our residents, so Dignity Action Day is a cause that’s very close to our hearts. We are very proud to celebrate not only what we are achieving here but the importance of promoting the health and happiness of people in a caring and safe environment.”

Knowing that people are treated with dignity and respect is one of the main reasons Margaret (Maggi) Tollow chose Warren Lodge for her mother: “Warren lodge is a caring, supportive environment. We have always felt that this was a place mum could call home. She is supported in continuing her outside interests. We chose Warren Lodge 18 months ago and I would choose it again if I made the same decision today.”

Warren Lodge is a residential nursing home offering 24-hour care to 65 year olds and over in need of round the clock support, whether as respite, post-operative or long-term care. Specialist in dementia care. Crisis intervention, non planned and emergency admission is a speciality.
