Foresters UK (www.foresters.co.uk)  is once again proud to be sponsoring the annual Addenbrooke’s Hospital Choir’s Christmas Concert, which will be held on Wednesday 21st December at Great St Mary’s, The University Church, Cambridge and all proceeds will go to the children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

The concert brings together more than 100 participants from across the area and is renowned for being a highlight of the Cambridge festive calendar.

Tickets for the concert are priced at £10 per adult, children £5.00 and concessions £8.00.

Jenny Craig from The Concert Committee says: “We are delighted to be putting on a carol concert in support of our chosen charity, CLIC Sargent. All the choir members have worked really hard over the last few months to prepare for the big night. We are sure it’s going to be a fantastic evening and would encourage people to buy their tickets early to avoid disappointment.”

Terry Ambrose, local Branch President at Foresters added, “Part of Foresters purpose is to promote the well-being of families and children through inspiring community activities, which is why we are proud to be sponsoring this concert to help raise much needed funds for the work that CLIC Sargent does.”

Karen Roberts, Area Fundraising Manager at CLIC Sargent adds: “The Addenbrooke’s Hospital Choir Carol Concert will be a great way to celebrate the festive season and help make a difference to the lives of children and young people with cancer at the same time.”

CLIC Sargent provides clinical, practical and emotional support for children and young people with cancer, and their families, from the point of diagnosis. All proceeds from the concert will help CLIC Sargent provide vital services, including nurses and care professionals in hospital, grants to help families meet extra costs and free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation close to the main children’s cancer centres.

About childhood cancer

Every day 10 children and young people are told they have cancer, and diagnosis usually comes as a shock. Treatment normally starts straightaway and can last up to three years. Although survival rates are over 70%, cancer remains the single largest cause of death from disease in children in the UK.

About CLIC Sargent

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. It provides clinical, practical and emotional support for young cancer patients and their families, from diagnosis onwards. For more information visit www.clicsargent.org.uk

Please note that the name ‘CLIC Sargent’ should not be abbreviated to CLIC, and that the word ‘CLIC’ should always appear in capitals, as above.

About Foresters

Foresters is an international financial services organisation which has operated in the UK, US and Canada for over 135 years. We are committed to understanding your financial needs and to offering products and membership benefits, which will assist you with your financial security and peace of mind.

Our purpose is to enhance the well being of members and their families, and we measure our success not only by financial strength, but also by the positive impact we have on our members’ communities.

In the UK last year we supported more than 100 charities and raised over £3m for those charities and other community partners. Thousands of our members provided much needed volunteer hours to help communities throughout the country.

As an example, our work with Cash for Kids in their 2010 Christmas Toy Appeal helped 200,000 children to have a better Christmas and 600,000 toys and gifts were delivered to needy children.  Our support for UK children’s hospices has helped these organisations to provide a range of services to nearly 10,000 families.

Foresters have received an "A" (Excellent) rating for the eleventh consecutive year from A.M. Best Company*. This independent rating assesses Foresters ability to pay claims and is an important measure of the organization's strength and stability. A.M. Best also gave Foresters an issuer credit rating of "a " with a "stable" outlook.

*An "A" (Excellent) rating is assigned to companies that have a strong ability to meet their ongoing obligations to policyholders and have, on balance, excellent balance sheet strength, operating performance and business profile when compared to the standards established by A.M. Best Company. In assigning Foresters rating, A.M. Best stated that Foresters rating outlook is "stable", which means it is unlikely to change in the near future, assuming Foresters financial strength is maintained and operations grow. A.M. Best assigns ratings from A to F, A being superior ratings and A and A- being excellent ratings.
