Global Infrastructure expands at Fortis Investments

Fortis Investments is delighted to announce the arrival of Wael Elkhouly , who has joined its Global Infrastructure Fund as Head of Asset Management.

Wael, a joint British and Egyptian national, has 15 years of experience in infrastructure spread across the utilities, transport and social infrastructure sub-sectors and covering several activities including investment banking, principal investment and portfolio management.

Wael previously spent five years at Citigroup, where he was most recently a senior member of the infrastructure advisory group. Prior to Citigroup, he spent over ten years with the investment banking arm of Bechtel.

Fortis Investments’ London-based Global Infrastructure Fund team consists of 19 people under the leadership of Hans Meissner, the team’s CEO. The fund currently manages eight assets spanning various sectors and regions. Meissner commented: “Wael brings with him a wealth of experience in infrastructure in general and in asset management in particular. He is clearly a valuable addition to the team and reinforces our position as a major player in the infrastructure market.”

As Head of Asset Management, Wael’s primary responsib ility will be leading the team managing the portfolio of assets, but he will also contribute in other areas such as origination and fund raising.
