Press Release

Fortum and the Espoo football team FC Honka have signed a three-year cooperation agreement. Fortum is the main partner of FC Honka, which is now playing its first season in the Veikkausliiga League, at the highest level of national football in Finland. The agreement is made for the 2006–2008 period. In addition to top football, Honka is strongly committed to youth work and efforts that benefit society. Among other things, the team supports the Haukilahti upper secondary school’s football programme and the Espoo Football Academy. It also belongs to the organisers of the world's biggest junior football tournament, the Helsinki Cup. In addition, the team sponsors a home at Rinnekotisäätiö. Fortum's support to Honka is broad - work among youth and the disabled in Espoo is considered particularly important. “Our common goal is to support the Espoo identity by providing different types of target groups with positive experiences through sports, not only through top football but also by working with young people and the disabled. For this reason, seeing FC Honka make its way to the Veikkausliiga League is a great thing. It’s a great inspiration for young people,” says Susanna Serlachius-Pressler, Brand Manager (Fortum).
