Fortum has secured its place on the global DJSI World index also this year, for the fifth year in-a-row. Fortum is included in the index among only four other Finnish corporations. Fortum is also the only Nordic power and heat company on the DJSI World. Dow Jones Indexes, STOXX Limited and SAM Group announced the results of the annual review for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) earlier today.

"Fortum is committed to sustainable development. This is why sustainability has been imbedded in the company's vision statement: To be the benchmark power and heat company excelling in sustainability. We are very happy to have been re-selected as a member in the DJSI family. It shows that we are moving in the right direction," says Carola Teir-Lehtinen, Vice President, Corporate Sustainability, at Fortum.

Fortum has been included in the DJSI World index since 2004. DJSI World index includes over 300 leading companies from 24 countries in terms of corporate sustainability.

Furthermore, Fortum was ranked the most responsible energy company in Storebrand's global "Best in Class" report. Norwegian finance group Storebrand published its global report on the most responsible companies in the electricity utilities sector in December 2006. Among the 44 companies evaluated, 13 fulfilled the 'Best in Class' criteria of the Storebrand funds. In the overall assessment, Fortum scored highest.
