Fortum sells its power plant in Hämeenlinna

Fortum and Vattenfall today signed an agreement whereby Fortum will sell its combined heat and power plant located in Hämeenlinna to Vattenfall Kaukolämpö Oy. The sale is one of the conditions set by the Finnish Competition Authority for the realisation of the E.ON Finland (now Fortum Espoo Oyj) acquisition. The main fuels used by the Hämeenlinna power plant are peat, wood and gas. Its power generation capacity is 65 megawatts (MW) and heat generation capacity 95 MW. The employees of the power plant are offered a continuation of their employment at Vattenfall. The plan is to transfer ownership of the power plant to Vattenfall during the autumn.
