Fortum has joined the Gender initiative C3E presented at the 9th Clean Energy Ministerial

At the 9th Clean Energy Ministerial held in Copenhagen the 24th of May co-founding countries Sweden, Canada and Italy presented the C3E initiative - Equal Pay, Equal Opportunity, and Equal Leadership until 2030 – an initiative Fortum fully supports.
The initiative has the ambition to have governments, industry and other organisations sign on to overarching principles supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 on gender equality. Fortum, which is a Top 200 company included in 2017 Equileap Gender Equality Global Ranking, fully supports this initiative. At the signatory ceremony Fortum was represented by Birgitta Resvik, Vice President Public Affairs Sweden. Fortum’s commitment covers all operations in all countries.
Fortum has committed to:
• Lead by example, integrating equality principles into our organisation as a cross-cutting value and step up our efforts to promoting gender diversity activities within our companies, especially in recruiting and promotion situations.
• Highlight, support and close the gender diversity gap, by promoting the energy sector towards female university students with a first focus on technical faculties.
• Report and promote progress towards gender equity and support efforts to improve gender disaggregated data, including womens' participation in leadership roles, and measure our progress in a transparent, open manner.

About C3E
The purpose is to have governments, industry, and other organisations sign on to overarching principles of Equal Pay, Equal Opportunity, and Equal Leadership until 2030. This is connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and particularly, SDG 5 on gender equality.
Under a single overarching statement, the principles will be grouped under two headings; ones for public sector and ones for private sector, respecting the unique needs of each sector, while giving the framework a common foundation.
Annually companies and governments are to showcase the successes and opportunities they’ve uncovered through their actions
