Fortum in discussions about terms for concluding the E.ON Finland transaction
In connection to its investigations regarding the E.ON Finland transaction, the
Finnish Competition authority has paid attention to Fortum´s power generation
capacity in Finland. Consequently, Fortum has started discussions with the
Competition Authority about the terms on which the transaction can be concluded.
The discussions have centered around an arrangement whereby Fortum would divest
its power plants in Haapavesi and Hämeenlinna. In addition Fortum would lease
its share of the Meri-Pori power plant until 31st December, 2009.
In February 2006 Fortum applied for an approval by the Finnish Competition
authority to acquire 99.8 % of the shares of E.ON Finland Oyj. On 3 March 2006
the Competition Authority announced that it will continue its evaluation of the
matter. The further processing can last a maximum of three months.
