FORTUM INCREASES STAKE IN FORTUM WROCLAW S.A.

Fortum´s rapid expansion in Poland continues, as its shareholding in the district
heating company Fortum Wroclaw S.A. (former MPEC Wroclaw S.A.) has increased to
over 90%. This is a result of Fortum's public tender to the shareholders of the
company in October. The public tender was completed on 24 January 2006.

Fortum now holds 45,617,912 shares in Fortum Wroclaw S.A., which represent
approximately 90.2% of the share capital and approximately 94.4% of the voting
rights at the General Meeting of Fortum Wroclaw S.A.

Today Fortum has also announced a public tender to acquire all the remaining
shares in the company and its intention to delist the company from the Warsaw
Stock Exchange.
